Areca ARC-8050 RAID Enclosure Driver Set Up:
Step 1:
Before you start the installation process, please make sure the Thunderbolt 3 cable goes into Thunderbolt 3 port of both of your host system and 8050 series RAID Enclosure.
Go to Areca.com.tw web site, find the “Downloads Center” in the Support Tab.
Once you are on the page, please select Thunderbolt Solutions under the PRODUCT TYPE.
Next, select your product under MODEL NAME.
Finally, choose Driver/Utility under ITEM TYPE.
Step 2:
Choose the correct installer.
For Windows users, please click on the Windows tab and choose the latest driver available.
For MacOS users, please click on the Mac Tab and choose the latest driver for either M1/M2 or older Intel based devices.
Step 3:
Download and install the driver.
For Windows users, this should be in your downloads folder. Click to install the driver and install onto your system.
For MacOS users, down and install the driver. You may need to alter your security settings. To do so;

On the Mac with Apple silicon, choose Apple menu > Shut Down.

Press and hold the power button until “Loading startup options” appears.

Click Options, then click Continue.

Select a startup disk, then click Next.

Select an administrator account, then click Next.

Enter the password for the administrator account, then click Continue.

In the Recovery app, choose Utilities > Startup Security Utility.

Select the system you want to use to set the security policy.

If the disk is encrypted with FileVault, click Unlock, enter the password, then click Unlock.

Click Security Policy.

Select Reduced Security: This allows any version of signed operating system software ever trusted by Apple to run.
After Areca Thunderbolt RAID driver installed, you will find the RAID enclosure in your Device Manager, under Storage Controllers as Areca SAS RAID Host Adapter
